Export Coaching Program (ECP) for Home Decoration and Home Textiles
Posted: Oct, 5th 2010, by: admin
Introduction
To international entrepreneurs, Europe is potentially one of the most profitable markets in the world. At the same time it is also a very complex, competitive and dynamic market. Exporters eager to access the EU market must prepare themselves carefully and thoroughly. Nonetheless, there are good opportunities for aspiring exporters. The only question is: how do you turn them into profitable business?
Export Coaching Program
To help aspiring exporters to export to the European market or to improve their export position, CBI has developed in cooperation with BEDO a very practical and subsidized Export Coaching Program for ‘Home Decoration’ & ‘Home Textiles’. The program of 3 years is run by independent consultants whose extensive knowledge and networks throughout Europe guarantee high quality, specialized and up to date content.
How will you benefit from The Export Coaching Program?
- Companies are guided & advised by sector experts that will help improve business
- Assisted with the development of a well tuned export marketing plan
- Provided with valuable market information
- Valuable opportunities are provided to make contact with important European importers
- Matchmaking facilities are provided.
- Attending highly reputable Tradeshow in Europe
ECP includes a common base of modules but its also flexible and tailored to the participants’ individual needs, thus making it the most in-depth and suitable training for your company to be export-ready. ECP takes your through three main stages.
1. Pre-selection
This is a subsidized program from CBI, but in order to ensure company motivation and dedication to the program, if selected the company will be asked a onetime commitment fee for the entire 3 years program.
2.Technical assistance and training
The coaching consists of on-site consultancy with sector experts but also e-learning and Export Marketing and Management seminar.
ECP takes your through 5 main modules:
- Market research
- Production & Quality management
- Logistics & Distribution
- Marketing Communication
- Management
CBI experts will help you to make and implement an action plan. They will assist by sharing their knowledge and covering every key export area.
In addition, you will follow an export marketing training in Europe to make yourself familiarize with the specifics of European market. For this you will be equipped with practical skills in export marketing, export management and promotion in your sector in Europe.
CBI will provide you with air fair and housing during your training in Europe. Finally, you will develop your own Export Marketing Plan for which you will receive counseling.
3. Market entry
Once you are technically ready, you will start the next step in the program which is to enter the European market. For this occasion you will participate in a European tradeshow. It will help you to make contact with potential buyers but also acquire first-hand and in-depth market experience.
For the first year, CBI will cover the costs but for the second and third year a participation of the company is asked.
In order for this first immersion in European market to be successful, CBI will provide different tools such as:
- Publicity and invitations through mailings and telemarketing
- a stand in the Tradeshow
- a briefing about the latest market developments
- advice on the best market approach
- professional assistance in preparing your presentation and stand decoration
Your company will also be added in the CBO database so that you gain more business contacts. Moreover CBI experts will help you to consolidate and expand the business contacts you made via the database or the tradeshow.
To conclude, Export Coaching Program will help you to:
- Publicity and invitations through mailings and telemarketing
- Become familiar with EU markets and business practices
- Develop an export marketing strategy
- Export to the EU market
- Consolidate your export position in the European Union

BEDO Social Program
The same opportunity for People with Disablilty
From April until June 2010, BEDO with 3 disabled people organisations in Bali (Senang Hati, Yakkum Bali and Bunga Bali) and Volounter Service Overseas (VSO) are organising training for disabled people. The objective of the training is to increase the social and economic empowerment of the physically disabled people in Bali by helping them to find work in the formal sector. From former experiences we learned that it is not enough to find job opportunities, but also to prepare the disabled people for working in the formal sector by teaching them hard skills, like working with the computer and learning them English, and soft skills, like motivation, independence, confidence, how to apply for a job, how to deal with problems etc.
This first training which took place last year had some successes. Five out of the twelve participants found a job. All the participants said that they learned a lot from the training. But the thing they missed in this first training was working experience. That is why we made some changes in the second training.
In this second training, which will start at April 13, we combine the hard skill and soft skill training with an internship. By doing that we hope people get to learn how things are being done at an office, school, hotel, shop etc. They also can get used to getting to work in time and get some experiences by doing different things at work.
The first four weeks the participants will work three hours a day in the morning, 5 days a week (from Monday until Friday). If everything works out, and the employers are still interested in helping us out, we like to increase the working hours in the second month up to 5 or 6 hours a day
The participants are all disabled; some of them use a wheelchair. The educational background of the participants differs, some joined SMA (senior highschool), and others only went to primary school. But all participants can read and write.
